Response to Caged Bird

Response Poem:

The worst of all is a bird that's caught

for the ways of hell she must be taught

she sings in anguish and longing still

Freedom is her only will 

At night you hear her frightful cry

for freedom the bird used to know

if not set free her spirit will die

for liberty is no more 

Oh, hear her rage when the sun shines

and she thinks to herself "The world should be mine"

she used to fly and sing so free

now she's trapped with nothing but a dream
