Goodbye is simply
laughing as we fall
scraping our knees against uneven sidewalk
as the skateboard wheels continue to turn
Goodbye is simply
an old notebook curled at page ends
ink graved into yesterday
hoping only time would leave
Goodbye is simply
sweat beads cradling nooks of skin
pushing forward as we move really nowhere
knowing each step loses something
laughing as we fall
scraping our knees against uneven sidewalk
as the skateboard wheels continue to turn
Goodbye is simply
an old notebook curled at page ends
ink graved into yesterday
hoping only time would leave
Goodbye is simply
sweat beads cradling nooks of skin
pushing forward as we move really nowhere
knowing each step loses something
nice...i like these reflections....esp the middle with the notebook...but also the skateboard one, that is cool...i still skate a bit..
ReplyDeleteThe images in this triplet of verses are so clear, and the link with valediction so intriguing that they made me stop and think.
ReplyDeleteThis is so wonderful! All three of these stanzas would have been a solid poem on their own, but together they are just beautiful. Especially like the last two lines, very powerful stuff here.
ReplyDeleteLoved the repeat, it left me saying "yes, it's simply what else..."
ReplyDeleteNice imagery. I enjoyed reading your poetry.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
